Beginner
Students will be taught how to properly hold and tune their instrument, the rudiments of music, how to read standard notation, and proper technique while learning to play chords, scales and songs in the open position. Upon completion the student will have developed the skills to play and perform many traditional and pop/rock songs.

 
Intermediate
Students will continue to develop their sight-reading and technical skills while learning to play movable arpeggios, chords, scales and songs in many positions, and be introduced to the art of improvisation. Upon completion the student will have developed the skills necessary to play and perform in a blues, country, or rock band.

 
Advanced
Students will further develop their sight-reading, technique, and improvisation skills while learning music theory through the practical demonstration of the use of advanced scales, chords and arpeggios, and be able to play many songs in all positions and keys. Upon completion the student will have developed the skills to play and perform in the jazz style as well as other popular styles and be well prepared for acceptance into any college or university level music program.



 

Guitar Course Information

Lessons are offered in both classical and contemporary guitar styles from beginner to advanced. Classical guitar lessons will follow the Royal Conservatory of Music graded system, while contemporary guitar lessons will follow the PGS curriculum and are broken into 3 levels:
